Picatinny Chapter of Women in Defense Scholarship

The Picatinny Chapter of Women in Defense scholarship of $2,000 is given annually to a young woman who may not have the financial situation to allow her to attend college fulltime. She exemplifies hard work and community spirit. When establishing our Picatinny Chapter, the founders made a conscience decision to include in our by-laws the exclusive purpose to provide for the betterment of the workforce and local municipalities as well as provide community service. Here at Picatinny, we share in the Army value of family and that extends to our local industry partners and community. We feel that reaching out to the Defense communities to share the pride in what we do is important. Therefore this scholarship is to honor the vital support the Defense Community is providing everyday to ensure the safety and strength of the Soldier in the Defense of the nation.

The students who apply for this award need to show a financial need, strong community involvement and a dedication to self and family. They will be civic minded with an extensive array of community service projects to their credit.
