Bring Your Child to Work Day - 2009
The Picatinny Chapter of Women in Defense is sponsoring the fifth annual Bring Your Child to Work Day at Picatinny April 23rd.
Last year's program was a huge success! The children visited many facilities, including the Target Behavioral Response Laboratory, where the children shot paintball guns at a stationed target, took part in a laser gun training demo, and explored the world of motion detector’s. They learned how the motion detectors play a part in making video games, animated movies and training for our soldiers. The tour also included a stop at the Software Engineering Center. Here, the children took pictures with assorted Tanks and took turns playing America's Army Video game. The experience left a memorable impression on each child and helped to open their minds to future career fields in math and science.
The program is intended to provide children ages 8-12 the opportunity to better grasp the mission of Picatinny and what their parents do everyday.
The program will provide an educational out-of-classroom experience. It will give the children a hands-on approach to potential career choices and will be a celebration of the vital support their parents provide everyday to ensure the safety and strength of the Soldier in the defense of our nation.
Registration will be announced at the beginning of April and will be open until 17 April; forms will be available via this website, e-mail or on The Garrison Daily. Please keep an eye out for this outstanding event. Registration is limited so once announced don’t delay in sending in your forms. Check back often for more info!!
